Our Story
Welcome to Serenity Bakeshop! My name is Sarina, and I started this online bakery as a passion project in December 2023. I have always loved to bake, everything from cookies, to cakes, and muffins and bars- but cookies have always been my favorite!
After graduating from UCLA in 2002, I worked as a CPA for many years, but it never really excited me. So I started baking in my free time when I got home from work as a form of self-care, and just got really into it. I started developing all my own recipes for different flavors of cookies and bringing them to family and friends, and for years everyone would tell me I should start a cookie bakery. So after taking time away from the corporate world to be with my 3 young boys, I decided to finally follow my passion and go for it, and that is how Serenity Bakeshop came about! Serenity is a play on my name Sarina, which means serene, although my life is anything but serene as a mom of 3 boys, but baking is what helps me stay calm through the chaos.
When thinking about why I wanted to start this bakery, (in addition to my love for baking), what really makes me happy is seeing the smile on someone's face when they receive a fresh box or take their first bite. I truly think it is the little things in life that make us happy, and a delicious cookie is a fun treat for all ages. And while I do bake many classic flavors, I also wanted to include a couple items that represent my Indian culture, hence I created the cardamom pistachio and toasted coconut cookies. I also include various dietary preferences by having a gluten-free and vegan option that are both quite delicious!
I am proud to be a minority, mom and woman owned small business, and hope you enjoy my cookies as much as my family and friends do. My two older sons are a big part of the business as well, they help with everything from recipe development to taste testing and design decisions, they are my best advisers! Everything is made from scratch using all natural high quality ingredients, nothing processed and a lot of care and time is put into each and every batch!
